New Web Platform to Implement Educational Escape Rooms

New Web Platform to Implement Educational Escape Rooms

We are pleased to present the web platform developed within the IGLUE project to help teachers create, conduct, and share educational escape rooms. This platform is called Escapp and is publicly accessible at https://escapp.es. We invite you to try it out and use it to create your own educational escape rooms!

Escapp is an open-source platform, and its source code is available at https://github.com/iglue-project/escapp under a free software license.

What are the main features of Escapp?

  • Teacher and student registration.
  • Creation, publication, and sharing of educational escape rooms.
  • Editing and configuration of content blocks.
  • Resource manager that allows uploading a wide variety of files, including images, videos, audio, and PDF documents.
  • Catalog of interactive resources (e.g., keypads and decoder disks) that can be linked to puzzles.
  • Creation and automatic delivery of hints.
  • Solution verification using different methods (e.g., exact match and numeric verification).
  • Preparation of pre- and post-activity instructions.
  • Support for external resources through an API.
  • Creation and management of shifts.
  • Registration for escape rooms individually or in teams.
  • Synchronization of escape room progress among team members.
  • Gamification elements: countdown timer, progress bar, and leaderboard.
  • Monitoring of escape rooms and learning analytics.
  • Grade generation and export.

Additionally, throughout the IGLUE project, we will continue to improve the Escapp platform by adding new features, refining existing ones, and developing user support resources.
